Mrs. Mari Elka Pangestu, Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, attended Devdan Show at Bali Nusa Dua Theatre, on Friday May 4, 2012. The minister was in Bali in conjunction with the launching of Bali Daily and several other socio-cultural events to promote Bali and Indonesia. Bali Nusa Dua Theatre with its Devdan Show is one of Indonesia's prominent attractions.
Greeted by Mrs. Lindratini Suparsono, the Chairwoman of Bali Nusa Dua Theatre, and Mr. Stephen Lomax, the General Manager, Mrs. Pangestu was then introduced to the cast of Devdan Show. The minister looked very enthusiastic as she was engaged in conversations with the cast and stage manager before and after the show. The performance was able to charm the whole audience.
Commenting on the show, Minister Mari Elka Pangestu wrote:
["Selamat atas show yang luar biasa!! Jati diri & nuansa nusantara tapi dengan kemasan kontemporer; entertainment tapi tetap bercerita mengenai kekayaan budaya Indonesia. Sangat membanggakan dan tidak kalah dengan show di luar negeri. Teruskan!!"
Congratulations for the extraordinary show! National identity and character packed in a contemporary style; entertaining, but still with a narrative capturing Indonesia's rich cultural diversities. It's truly something we should be proud of; comparable with shows produced abroad. Keep it up!
Devdan Show that features five of the many different cultures in Indonesia goes hand in hand with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy's program called "Bali and Beyond," designed to promote Indonesia internationally through Bali. Just like the message behind the 'treasure chest' scene in Devdan Show, we hope that more and more people will be curious to discover Indonesia's cultural gems.
